As educators ourselves, we saw the need for an easy to use and cost effective teaching resource. This resource
needed to display high quality educational material in a focused and organized manner allowing the educator or
individual to determine how best to present and use that material. In essence, we wanted to create a dynamic and
always expanding library of video based educational material and knowledge that would allow educators and individuals
to pick and choose the exact areas of information that satisfied their specific educational requirements.
In the past, if someone wanted a video lesson on say thermodynamics, or even just a short lab demonstration concerning
some aspect of thermodynamics, they would have one of only two options.
Option 1 would be to purchase a very expensive, but usually high quality, DVD series or box set that covered a number
of topics and hope that your topic of interest was covered in a way that suited your purpose. The advantage of this option
was that you could be reasonably certain the content was of high quality, but the disadvantages were high cost and the fact
that it was nearly impossible to know if the content was useful until after video or set were purchased.
Option 2 would be to scour the internet, sometimes for hours, looking for that one relevant video out of the thousands of
both non-relevant educational videos and non-educational videos available on various video sharing sites. If you were
lucky enough to find a useful video, you would then only be able to watch a small and grainy streaming version of the
video on your computer monitor. The advantage of this option of course is that the cost was very low and sometimes free,
but the disadvantages were the poor visual quality of the videos and the hassle and time associated with finding and
viewing the videos online.
Therefore, our solution was to create Vidutopia to offer an Option 3, which combines the positive aspects of options 1 and 2
without any of the negatives. By using Vidutopia, you can be confident that the content you find is of the highest quality
as each submission is screened by our experts and educators before it is approved and made available on the site. Additionally,
our active community of experts, educators, and individuals also review and rate the videos available on the site so you can see
