| Mr. Keller, Chemistry Teacher, demonstrates a classic clock reaction. Clear solutions are mixed and, after a delay, the mixture turns dark blue. Using advanced technology (duct tape) Mr. Keller manages to carry out three simultaneous clock reactions. In clock reactions a slow reaction is coupled with a fast reaction. The fast reaction uses up the color-changing product faster than the slow reaction can produce it. Once the fast reaction runs out of reactant the slow reaction can do its thing and cause the color change. |
