Full-length video lecture by David B. Massey. Series in which all of the terms are greater than or equal to zero, non-negative series, or in which all of the terms are less than or equal to zero, non-positive series, are easier to deal with than series that contain both positive and negative terms. However, all of the results on convergence/divergence for non-positive series can be obtained by negating, term-by-term, to obtain non-negative series, and then looking at the results for non-negative series. Consequently, it is customary to state the results, the convergence and divergence tests, for non-negative series only, leaving the results for non-positive series as quick corollaries.
